Finally booked the motorhome for our 4 wk recci in April.
Went with Breakaway in the end, they were at least $600. cheaper than the other companies also the guy sounded genuine. (gave up with emails  and phoned him just now).
Also decided to reduce our trip and just cover the SI for now, so any ideas on "Must See's" would be welcome.
The other thing is if anyone could recomend any building firms around Christchurch that we could send OH's CV to before we leave.(should this bit be in another thread?)
Thanks for all the help and recomendations. :cheers

We too finally booked after numerous quotes and trying to compare prices. Went with Britz in the end , not the cheapest but only wanted a small deposit now rather than the whole amount up front.
Hope the weather is kind to all of us campers!

This motorhome, Breakaway/Normad, is just around the corner from my house, so i went for a walk with children to have a peep into 6 berth motorhome, very nice :nice1 . A man, very kindly, let us have a look as we are looking into rent one in december when my MIL coming anyway and we try to work out whether we need 4 or 6 berth and which company are we going to use, maui again or other. I think we will opt for 6 berth, prefer to find good car seat system fit in with our children as we need two diagonal seat belt for two children....anyone had experience with this?
Settersred, are you rent it from chch or akl? as chch's breakaway is not in airport areas, so you will need to catch taxi as it is just 5-10mins from airport, in roydvale ave, Burnside or do they offer pick-up from airport? check if you haven't thought of it!

Kea Campers is down the street from us and we actually bought a 2 berth from them and have used one of their 4 berths. If you have kids and car seats make sure you are very specific with them about this issue! We had some issues with Kea when we bought our van but in the end the came through. The quality of their campers is great and the company is very good to deal with as well.
have a good trip.
