Hello there Wayne

Another Harley fan :nice1

Both PB and I have now sold our Harleys in prep for the big move. We are going to replace them over there, so I'm sorry that I can't help with any shipping info.

However .... I have been told by more than one person that NZ is one of the cheapest places (outside USA) to buy a HD. I've only been into one show room in NZ and that was a place called ANZA in Palmerston North. I have to admit that after doing my best to convert the prices back to UK pounds, I didn't really think they were any cheaper. ANZA is not a sole HD dealership - it sells all makes of bikes, and cars too, maybe the official HD dealerships will be able to offer us a better price.

I'd got it into my head to get a Heritage Softail but after watching Billy Connoly I think it may have to have 3 wheels !!!!!

Good luck - let us know how you get on.

Thanks for the response it seems you are allowed one vehicle duty free for a first time migrant ,sadly its my second time but as I have owned the bike for more than 12 months the duty will not be as much.
Dont have to worry about the cleaning as the bike is spotless :cool :cool
I was in Auckland july 03 and visited the Harley dealer and was shocked at the prices the same model as mine was £800 dearer, amate who lives in NZ has advised me to get as many spares as possible as the parts and labour rate are horrendus (on NZ wages), so I will have a major service and stage 1 tune up before I go, also buy any accesories I need/want

Well it just goes to show you! It's worth shopping around. To be honest - when I consider who it was who told me that NZ is the cheapest place to buy HD's I should have taken it with a MASSIVE pinch of salt.

As for your bike being spotless ......... I believe you. All that chrome. Thankfully PB use to clean mine for me or I would have trundled around on it covered in mud  I'm hoping he'll continue with that arrangement in NZ.

What did you have? looks like a sporty on the little picture.
Mine is an anniversary sportster which is my first Harley and I am very pleased with it, although at the mo its clean and wrapped in the shed and I use my tatty old Kawasaki zephyr as the winter hack which I would love to take with me but I 'm afraid I would never be able to get it clean enough for Maf.
www.trademe.co.nz is a good guide as to what Harley's are fetching in NZ

Yeah - that one I'm on in the picture is an 883 Hugger.

You could say tha PB and I have suffered from C.H.D (compulsive Harley disorder). We've had the 883 Hugger, a 1200 custom Sportster, a Road Glide, a Heritage Softail, a Dyna Supersport and a Road King Classic - also had our mates Low Rider for a while too.

I have to admit, I found the Road King a fantastic bike to ride. Much easier than the Hugger .... I'd never have picked it up had I dropped it though (luckily I didn't). :nice1
