Hi...We had our medicals completed last Friday, and now we are waiting for results.

All seemed to go well, except the dr. seemed to think my thyroid is a bit enlarged. He asked if it hurt when he pressed on it (and it didn't) then moved on to listening to my heart after feeling my thyroid again. He then said I have a "grade 2" murmur!! Egads!!

Will a thyroid problem show up in the routine blood work? Now I'm wondering if something is wrong (thyroid issues run in my family) and of course worrying over whether this will delay everything while we get it straightened out! I hope the murmur isn't an issue either. Geeze, now I probably have high blood pressure! :wah

Any thyroid or heart murmur stories out there?

Well, Christine, my heart skips a beat every time I think of you and that didn't seem to bother the doc, so I'd guess the heart murmur is no big deal.

My immigration dr i saw didn't say anything about my heart murmur, either he didn't picked up, was normal during check or he sweep under the carpet for me ;) as i didn't mentioned on my form about past history of heart murmur picked up few times and had a scan confirm nothing found wrong.

My NZ dr picked up my heart murmur last week during health check and want me to come back in a month time before refer me to have a heart scan.

You wouldn't need worry too much about it as lots of people have heart murmur....

Good luck, sure you'll be fine. It is worrying enough all this emigration business, no wonder we get palpitations and stuff

That's too cute!

We had to wait over Christmas for OH's results - and it was nerve-inducing. The envelope was sealed, but we figured there was no point not-knowing, so we opened it (plus we want to take copies of everything we give to NZHouse, just in case!)

There are a couple of small health issues, which we knew would be flagged up - so it's not a done-deal yet, but it's a big relief to have another piece of paper work out of the way!
