Hi,

My skilled worker application is plodding along and I'm in NZ looking for a job offer to continue with it.

I'm being told that I can apply for a temp work permit, be able to start work very quickly and my PR application, including on it the rest of my family, will continue as though I was still in the UK, with a job offer and returning my ITA.

Is this true? I've seen that residence from work needs the applicant to have been in work for 2 years before he can apply. Is this a completely different route?

In a nutshell I would prefer just to get an offer, go home, return ITA and hopefully gain PR then return to start work. However, if I took out a temp visa just to start work sooner will the original PR/ skilled migrate application be affected?

Thanks,
Alan

you can get a temporary work visa then your PR application under the skilled migrant route will carry on as normal.

work to residence visas (which have a two year time requirement) are completely different things and are nothing to do with the skilled migrant route.

Great, thanks for that.

If you apply for a temp work visa - which usually only takes a matter of days to process - you can then continue your application for PR. Processing times in NZ are much faster than if you were back in the UK, usually only a couple of weeks or so.
