This is the latest update on the NZIS website.
"Once the pre-populated application form is returned to the London branch it should be allocated to a visa officer within four months. As an example, for the week ending 26 January 2007 we are allocating files lodged up to and including 2nd October 2006."
Are they really this slow? :no The last update (prior to the above) said that for week ending 29 December they were allocating files up to 29 September. I know it's been Christmas and summer holidays but at this rate they'll still be dealing with 2006 applications in 2008! :wah

Cheers for the update, Paula & co :nice1 .
My ITA was lodged on 5th Oct 06, so I'm just outside that window....so close and yet so far!!
Hopefully everyone's back from their hols in the NZIS office (perhaps they all go over to NZ for a month at Xmas?! :) )...
... and maybe the processing times might start to pick up a bit now?
Fingers crossed for everyone,
Ali

Hi Paula, You're in the same boat as us- it is so frustrating!. We submitted our ITA a couple of weeks after you and as Ali says, I imagine lots of staff take an extended holiday to travel back home at Christmas time. It shouldn't be allowed! Hopefully they'll all return to work with renewed vigour and get rid of that backlog! Still - gives us more time to get the decorating done!

Just wanted to get a general idea from different people.
How long did it take you to be selected from the Pool?
And how many points did you have?
Many thanks!

Hi Twig,
We were selected the same day we submitted. :nice1 It's been a long wait since then though. :no

...so, what happens to the expiry dates on police checks and medicals while all this back-log is going on?? Do we all end up having to renew these items? Seems like if NZIS gets our paperwork while it is in date, we shouldn't be resonsible for documents running out while they sit on someone's desk!
Any thoughts?

NZIS usually gives the longest amount of time it could take when they give their estimates. It's often quicker than that to process apps. (It was 2005 when we got PR, but they were saying 3 months and actually it took 2 weeks from when they received our ITA to when we had our interview done - and that was without a job offer.) It might take as long as they are estimating, but I wouldn't be surprised if you heard something sooner.
what happens to the expiry dates on police checks and medicals while all this back-log is going on? As I understand it, you just have to have your ITA received by the NIZS office with valid medicals and police checks. The clock does not keep ticking once they receive it, even if it has not been assigned to a case offcier yet.

andrewandjane, I believe you get psuhed through quicker with a job offer and start date. Have you told them of your circs yet? That should prompt a swift reaction,
Good luck and keep us posted,
