Hi everyone,
this may seem a very wide question and I’m sure it’s been asked many time before but for newcomers planning to emigrate it is one of the most important considerations that we have.
We are from South Africa (actually I’m British/SA my wife is South African). We have three boys twins eleven and a toddler of 2. I’ve been working in SA for 14 years in the banking industry particularly in credit, compliance and money laundering control (exciting stuff!). I have read a number of posts that say you must be prepared to adjust or even change your career path, often starting near the bottom again. I don’t have a problem with that, my biggest concern is that if we get accepted to NZ I need to start earning an income to support my family. (My wife is a qualified medical technologist and has some pre-primary (early childhood) teaching experience, however she stopped working full time when we had our children. Although she might have more chance of finding work, I want to go to NZ first so as to minimize the disruption to my wife and children who would only come to NZ once I established some sort of base).
We are applying for PR without a work offer. Of course we know that I will have to go to NZ for face-to-face interviews, but how do you coordinate that to have best chance of success? (i.e. without having to fly from SA to NZ hundreds of times which would be costly and very time consuming).
If anybody has some suggestions or past experience we would really appreciate your opinions or advise to put us on the right track.
