Awaiting redundancy at work so we have decided to try and apply for 12 month work permit to NZ with a view to staying on. Kim is a teacher so would get in on skills shortage, believe that the NZ gov are currently offering bursary - any one know how to apply?, 2 boys, 9 and 7. Just getting the paperwork sorted to send to NZQA then speaking to letting agencies on options for house in warrington. Hoping to move out in late august.

Welcome to the forum guys!! Guess you have just touched lucky coz we are having our going away "meet" at the Mascrat Manor pub (J21 M6) on the 10th. You are more than welcome to come along and chat to the gang - there will be quite a few people there.

Probably a few people there who are able to answer your questions. Plus, it is great to be able to chat to people going through the same processes as you. We meet in the left most part of the pub as you go in the main front doors.

Have a search for north west meet to get an idea from past meets and find links etc.

As for us? Well, we are off to NZ on the 9th March, flights booked, house (almost) done now, and in the manic last weeks before moving. We have the flag signing "ceremony" to perform, so we need someon to take the photos of us!! :laugh

Would be nice to see you and you can hopefully keep the meet going along, there are a few more north westers on here, so you could keep the ball rolling?

Thanks for the welcomes. Hoping to get to the NW meet on the 10th, I am sure that we have lots of questions but having looked at the forum, most of them are not new so it is just a matter of searching.

I've done a quick search on google.co.nz and found this link (http://www.teachnz.govt.nz/overseas-trained-teachers), which may help you. I didn't see anything on bursaries, but you might want to search the Teach NZ site for it.
