OK so strictly speaking we've had an offer accepted on a house so the title should say "subject to LIM and builders report we've bought a house" but that doesn't sound as much fun!

If all goes to plan we'll be in our own home in just over 3 weeks time.

thanks for the comments everyone! we've just been over there this afternoon to take a few measurements and have a wander round the area. its approx 7 mins climb from the frontdoor up through the town belt to the lookout on the top of mount victoria. quite a tough little climb up but soooo worth it! from there we went down on to the southern walkway and had a wander round some of the little tracks on the north facing slope of mount vic - lots of exploring to be done! i'm really very excited about moving there now.

When we first arrived we lived opposite there, just along from Jona Lomu's orange ex palace.

You'll love it there. :nice1

We’ve just been to do an inspection of our beautiful new house – mainly to let the gasfitter in to get a quote for our gas oven but also to see what state it has been left in. It’s the first time I’ve seen it empty and ready for us to move in and I’m so excited and pleased I could cry (if I wasn’t in the office). Also the vendors have done such a fantastic job of leaving it clean and ready for us – all the cupboards cleaned and the kitchen spotless etc. We take possession tomorrow and I can’t believe such a gorgeous place is really going to be ours. :yes

Are you using the Canon EOS 400D? I can't be sure, but found a link to that model in your flickr profile. I'm just trying to find a good digital camera before we do much more planning/packing so I can get everything on record.

Trigirl
20th February 2007, 06:36 AM
thank you speckythecky - i'll look up crocosmia. and thanks for hte birthday wishes - its actually this weekend coming and we're off to citron for a celebration dinner! i certainly feel like we've got plenty to celebrate over here.

hi dave and caroline - yes as though climbing over mt victoria every day wasn't going to keep us fit enough!

risak - yes they were all taken with my canon eos 400d. these ones were taken with the kit lens that comes with it in most packages (18-55mm) but i also have a 50mm f1.8 that i actually use for most photos. pretty much any of my photos on flickr since we arrived in NZ will have been taken with the 400d. its a good camera and i've really enjoyed using it. let me know if there's anything specific you want to know about it.

Rizak
20th February 2007, 07:08 AM
Sure. Can you lend it to me?

:laugh

I just noticed that you were able to take really nicely detailed photos in good ranges of light. I'd trained myself on film with a Canon SLR about a thousand years ago and find that my little digital pocket camera isn't cutting the mustard. Everything is menu driven and it takes way too long to set up the camera for different conditions.

Thanks for the info.

Looks like we are going to be neighbours Mandy :) . We will be living in Kilbirnie, not much of a walk from Haitaitai. We get there later on in the year. The view from Mt Vic is excellent isnt it.

We walked past the swimming pool several times on our way to Evans Bay and when we went for walks up the harbour road to Oriental Bay. I love the walks round about there and the wee beaches and bays. From Kilbirnie its easy to walk to Lyall bay too, great for a picnic and watching the surfers and gliders, im looking forward to watching the waves roll in again under the bluest sky i ever saw. Who knows we may bump into each other some time. My wife is a local of that area so knows all the short cuts and where to get the best lattes :laugh
