Hi all
Can anyone explain what this statement that appears online at the immigration site under Health means please?

"When your health certificate status has expired, Immigration New Zealand will request another health certificate from you".

I'm confused lol

Couldnt be certain but i thnk its for the people on temp or work visas dont they have to have it done when they renew there paperwork? dont know though hope it doesnt apply to permanent residence as i could do without that expense again at the moment. Anybody know for sure ? got me thinking now.

can you provide a link to where you are seeing it? it might be easier to advise if we could see it in context?

Well I have spent the best part of two hours looking through the immigration manual and I can't find anything that mentions renewing your medical status unless you are on a temporary visa. Bit of a mystery this. Also I wanted to put the two kittens together. Perhaps there twins :laugh

Sorry I can't be of much help

Can't provide link as you need to go to Immigration home page and log in to your account. On the right hand side of the page is the 'What's Happening?' section, click on 'Find out More' and at the bottom of the page under Health Certificate Details is where it says the thing about if your medical expires.

Hope that makes a bit of sense.

Did anyone ever discover WHEN your Health Certificate Expires ???

We've finally been allocated a case officer, only to be aked a whole load more medical questions.

I've had replacement knee surgery (twice) and they want more reports from the surgeons involved. Our medicals were done in February (4 months ago), It's been so long that I hope they don't expire anytime soon.

I think that's referring to the fact that when you submit a medical it's valid for the application you submit it with and any future applications submitted in the next two years. If you make an application after that period you will have to submit another medical.

Of course, in practice this only applies to temp visas as if you get PR you won't be submitting another application.

I'm not sure, but that's my understanding.

Thanks for that Anna, I'll stop worrying so much now.

Yup - once you submit a valid medical you don't need to do another (unless you start your application from scratch)

My OH had her medical in late Dec and we've been sending specialists reports back and forth and still waiting on them to decide if she gets a medical waiver.
