Hi all

need some advice on the foll.

EOI has been deselected as points has been removed, hubby certificates not recognised (computer technician), full assessment needed whereas 20 yrs work experience recognised. We are trying the job offer route long distance as unfortunately it is not possible for us to come on holiday & job search.

I was thinking of another option.

I am planning to take a 3 year diploma in herbal medicine in NZ (so that cert. is recognised) = study visa , (above 40Yrs)
my son is in form 4 and can continue his schooling in NZ and progress towards university = study visa
my husband can come on holiday visa and look for a job and ask WP.

The best part of it is that I can even start the 1st year by distance learning.

What are the chances that we are granted PR with this or will I have to leave after studies?

If I ask for study visa for my son will Il have to pay for his secondary studies, whereas if we were on WP waiting for PR, secondary studies would be free.
Am I right?

Anybody using same route

Is it possible for your husband to gain recognised qualifications in the UK by Competency Based Assessed? Though for IT roles, Immigration usually only recognise degrees, so that may not help.

I you are here on a student visa, usually you and your son will also have to pay full fees for studying in NZ, unless your husband gains a work permit, then you may be able to study at local fees.

my understanding is the same as eternalkiwis woth regards to your son - until your husband gets a work permit he will be classed as an internation student and hence subject to international fees.

for you - my understanding is a bit different - as far as i'm aware tertiary students are required to pay international fees unless they have residency or citizenship (and a few other oddball categories). work permits don't count.

the link to who classes as a domestic student from the mistry of education website is here http://www.minedu.govt.nz/index.cfm?layout=document&documentid=11132&data=l
