I've had a look on here re. medicals and cholesterol and found the range accepted goes up to 6.5........... I'm healthy but have cholesterol of 7.2 due to family history and having [possbly] PCOS.
We're considering selling up later this year and just going for it but I'm worried that I'll be declined once out there....... Anyone any experience of cholesterol levels above the norm?

Im sure i have read somewhere that you can bust down your levels a bit by drinking the cholesterol lowering drinks from Benecol etc. If i remember right someone worried about his levels took a small carton of the stuff every day for 2/3 weeks before his medical and successfully dropped it enough to get into the accepted limits. I hope someone can clarify that as i would like to check it out too as mine was a bit high when last checked seceral months ago.

Myrkk,
if you have something like hyperfamilial cholestrolemia (a hereditiary condition where the liver goes over board producing cholesterol) this can quite easily be controlled by diet and Lipitor or Zimvastatin (to mention a few).
I would not worry roo much as the condition is not life threatening and easily controllable. I hope this puts your mind at rest a bit.

Cheers guys.
I'm not worried about the cholesterol, when my time's up it's up....... only about it affecting my chances of getting into NZ :o
My Doc isn't worried about it all either....... only advice given was to stop eating so many of the delicious eggs our hens lay and stop eating so much cheese :uhoh
