I know this will have a simple answer but please help - when filling out the EOI form it asked for taxation no and social security no. All I did was put in my national insurance no. for both. Now that my EOI has been selected I am panicking that I have done the wrong thing.
Can anyone correct me?????? Living in the UK.
Also to do with Birth certificate no. Again I just quickly put in the no. at the top RHS of the certificates - right or wrong????
It seemed so straight forward at the time now I am feeling like a right twit.

I filled out both, only because as a self employed person I havce a tax reference number from my previous self assesment tax return. I believe employed people just use their NI number which the Inland revenue use to hold info on you. Not that NZIS would ever confer with IR. As long as your NI matches with payslips P45's P60's. No problems.
It could be the case as well that after next april if you are going to leave the country permanetly before the tax year has ended you could get some overpayed tax back.
It also amazes me the few people who realsie that if they spend money to do their job they can claim that back. So if you buy a suit then try your luck. Its not something the IR likes to promote.
Cheers

There is something called a Unique Tax Reference number, which is usually on your tax statement. But you only get this if you have to submit a tax return and it shows on your statement of tax due. I think just the NI number is fine.

Hi,
I only put the N.I. in on mine and it's just gone to Decision Successful so it must have been OK. :nice1
Good luck!
