Hi,
Me and my wife put our EOI in on Friday and have just heard we were successful with 140 points and we are very happy as I have just learnt that January can be a tough selection period, especially after a holiday period.
I suppose we just wait now and see if we check out!
We hope to move to Welly in July/August '08 all being well.
Cheers

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your selection. :clap
If you have any questions at all feel free to ask or indeed do a quick search on your topic.
I know it's early days but do you have any idea where you might want to go?

Hi Guys,
Questions? Questions?...............millions of them.
#1 We have just calculated it will cost us £30,000 to move from the UK to wellington, does this sound about right? This includes everything from shipping to buying and selling house here & there, applications, new equipment when we get there.
#2 We have an endowment policy which is worth £10,000 at the moment and will mature at around £25,000-£30,000 in 12 years time, we want to leave it running in this country, and continue paying the premium from NZ by sending a yearly lump sum over to cover the payments. Has anyone had experience on this front that could advise as we do not want to cash it in?
#3 We have budgeted for 6 months rental when we get there, but want to buy a house asap?

Try to budget ahead if you are planning on supporting financial commitments from NZ.
If you know your salary level in NZ make sure you can afford to make payments back in the UK..
The general level of pay can be markedly different and if you have high levels of commitments in the UK you might find it a drain...
There are plenty of people here to give you advice... keep firing away with the questions..
Everyone is happy to help.

Thanks for the kind words every one, we are very excited but also nervous about our quals checking out!
I am a qualified chef with 20 years experience and my wife is a registered nurse with 20 years experience, we feel they are two strong trades to have in one family unit and are hopefull we will succeed!
New Zealand looks amazing and we are confident of moving to Wellington without a prior visit and we will feel right at home.
Another question: Is their anything we could be doing in the meantime in preperation for the next step, or should we just sit and wait?
