I am a primary teacher but as it's not on the Skills Shortage list, I'm looking into Early Childhood teaching. Is there anyone who works in this area on the forum? If I get my qualifiacations assessed (B.SC. followed by PGCE for Early Years which means 4 to 8 year olds in UK), and then hopefully register with the Teachers Council in NZ, would I be able to get a job without much experience in NZ? Is it worth applying for jobs anyway?
Am I right in thinking that Early Childhood staff get paid equivalent to primary staff?
In Uk now there is a new status, not a qualification, that of Early Years Professional Status which I could try and obtain although it would delay my application. Wonder if that would be advantageous for securing employmnet in nZ?
Is it worth me contacting Early Childhood centres in order to visit, chat etc on our reccy trip in March.....as we don't know where we would like to settle or where OH (in conservation) might get a job, very hard to know where to target!
I realise some of these are hypothetical questions but someone may have something to offer as advice!

Thanks,
Carey
