I've been reading the forum for about a year, and thought it was finally time to register and say hello, and thank everyone for all of the useful information you've posted.
My boyfriend and I will be moving to New Zealand later this year. He's a Kiwi who's been in the UK on and off for the last 12 years, and I'm a Brit. We were in NZ for a month at Christmas and new year, I met all of his family for the first time, and we also had offers accepted on a house and a business in Whitianga.
So, over the next few months I'll be busy remortgaging and letting out my flat in London, getting a mortgage in New Zealand, sorting out a visa for me, deciding what furniture to bring with me and what to leave behind, shipping, sorting out pet passports for my cats, writing business plans, not to mention the small matter of organising our wedding, as we will be getting married before we leave.
Hmmm... writing all of that down has made it seem super scary.

Wow, Can you possibly get any busier??? :yes
Congratulations and Good Luck with it all - it will all just fall into place - eventually!
Welcome to the forum - I am sure you will find it as useful as we have over the past few months.

Thanks for the welcomes and good wishes. I was feeling quite confident about it all this weekend, but today there's been a set-back with the remortgage of my London flat and I'm now worrying I won't have the money in time to complete the purchase on the New Zealand house. And suddenly, having the house in New Zealand seems like the most important thing in the world. Fingers crossed it all works out.

My remortgage was finalised yesterday, and the contract on the NZ house became unconditional - yahay!
We've also now booked a venue for our wedding ceremony and for the reception - we're getting married in Tower Bridge, and having the reception in a pub next to Blackfriars Bridge.
And I resigned from work today. I'll be leaving in August, and coming to NZ in September.

Cool place to get married. Which pub are you having the reception in? My OH and I used to drink in a pub on the south bank there quite often called Doggetts.
Well done on the whole resignation thing!

Doggetts is where we're having the reception!
We're hiring the top two floors - the top floor has a great terrace overlooking the river, and they'll do a barbecue for us - a must for a Kiwi, apparently.

It's all coming together. All the finance for the NZ house is sorted, so it will be ours next week.
And - big news - I've bought my wedding dress!
