Does anyone know how I could open a NZ bank account from here in Canada?

I will be starting a teaching job in Chch in the new year, and my Payroll Service Centre form asks for a bank account number (says without one my pay could be delayed). We don't arrive until Jan 1.

Any ideas about how to handle this?

Hi Rob, it should be possible to do it from Canada. On the other hand, you won't get paid until February so that should give you plenty of time to open a bank account following your arrival I would think.

Are you sure that I don't get paid as a teacher until Feb? I know that school begins on Feb 1 (I start Jan 28) - but don't teacher contracts begin Jan 1?

Hi Rob,

I believe you'll be paid in arrears after you've begun work.
