Well we have finally had an offer on our house, which we obviously accepted. :clap

Funny thing is, they were the 1st to view the house and only live around the corner from us anyway.

It's been a manic two months, getting the house sorted and keeping it tidy. We have been busily sorting through our precious belongings to deciding whether to keep them, sell them or just give them to relatives. It has amazed me how much stuff we have :roll

As soon as the sale is complete we can hand in our resignations. :D

Christchurch here we come....

Fantastic news Heidi - you must be really pleased! We're starting to get a little twitchy as we haven't even had a single viewing on our flat (rental), and I know thats my major worry at the moment..

Anyway great news for you and who knows, we might see you in Christchurch shortly! :) (we fly on the 24th)

Good luck with all that packing! I know what you mean about 'where does all the stuff come from', although as I'm now convinced that we might be poverty stricken on NZ salaries :roll , compared to what we're used to in the uk, that I'm also scared to get rid of anything usable!!!!

Hey Heidi

Congratulations with the house :nice1 ...it's such a good feeling isn't it?! (and a huge relief). It sounds like you've managed to get things moving pretty quickly...our house was on the market for 7 months before we had any serious viewings, and then they all seemed to be interested within the space of a week!

We are both finishing work this Friday, and we move out of our house the following Friday...it still hasn't sunk in yet I think! We've got lots of leaving meals and parties happening this week, so will probably have gained 1/2 stone by the time we actually leave...mind you I'm hoping to burn the calories off with the stress of the house move! :p

Do you know when you'll be heading over to Christchurch? I've just accepted a job in Dunedin, and we'll be arriving there at the start of August (going travelling around South America for a few months on the way to NZ).

Good luck with all the packing and the 'whittling down' process...I'm trying to be really strict with myself, but there's just some daft things that will be coming to NZ with us! :roll

We were very lucky with our buyers.

The house market over here is dead at the moment, in the space of two months we only had 8 viewings, 4 of them had not sold but were out looking anyway and the other 4 were repeat viewings. I don't know whether the increase in interest rates has put off a lot of buyers.

I'm sure it will pick up soon Pip; we will hopefully see you in Christchurch soon.

How’s it going up North Gil?

Ali, fingers crossed we will be there around May/June. Not going to book our flights until they money is in the bank. :D

Heidi, congratulations, it is an amazing feeling isn't it?!!

So, after all your hard work, you now have to mess it all up again, sorting and skipping, it is bloomin hard work, especially if you have enough junk as we do!

Our place looks like a bomb has gone off, but we know that it is the beginning of the end as far as this end is concerned. Good luck with your move and everything you have to do.

Well done Heidi

Can you put away the hoover for a bit now?!

Just about to put our house on the market here, though it does all seem a bit sleepy. I think the recent interest rate rises have made people hesitate about house-buying (I know it would me). Hope things pick up everywhere for everyone selling up and venturing down under...

Best wishes,

Andrea

Congrats Heidi & Rick, what a relief for you, now the manic organisation of everything else must begin! We're desperately decorating with the aim of getting our house on the market at the end of Feb, mind you, it was supposed to be start of the New Year, then end of Jan so at this rate it'll be Christmas! Good luck anyway, hope all goes smoothly.
