When looking on the official immigration web-site , there's a catagory called NZ Standard Classification of Occupations; what exactly is this? If my OH's occupation is on this, is he more likely to get a job? What if his present job (Landscape assessment, conservation, Biodiversity Officer) doesn't quite fit the title given in the list? Have managed to download the file once, now can't do it, so can't look at it again. Anyone know any more about it?

hi carey
it doesn't really *mean* anything. thats just how NZ classifies occupations - its used for things like the census and any other data gathering and classifiaction exercises that govt bodies do.
its not really used for the immigration process except to decide if your occupation is "skilled" or not and therefore whether you can claim points for work experience and should you get one if you can claim points for a job offer. your OH will need to find the one closest - maybe from your description "conservation officer"?

If you still need the list I have a copy. PM me if you want it.
