Hi there

Just a general question. If we claim points in our EOI for a particular qualification & occupation (for example if we claim bonus points for having experience in an area of absolute shortage ie teaching) does that mean that if we get accepted and we eventually immigrate that when we are in NZ we have to then do that job. I guess what I'm asking is, will someone check up on us to make sure that we are teaching or can we just get any old job when in NZ and still be ok to stay there?

Does that make sense?

Thanks
Tentun

Once you have PR you can do any type of work you want.
If you want to live off the land, or become a stuntman, or make bonnets for baby elves then you can...

I want to add to KerryS' post that this applies when you have an unconditional PR. It is also possible that you get PR with a job offer and then other rules apply around the time you need to stay in that certain job etc.

Cheers,

Depends on whether your PR application points are linked to a job offer.
If you need a job offer to get all the points, then the experience and qualifications must also be in that sector in order to count.
But, even if it is linked, you actually only need to stay in that particular job in for 90 days - which seems very short but that's all that's asked.
