Hi All,
Sorry to ask this old chestnut again but I have had a quick search and cannot find a definitive answer.
My friend is starting a job on Monday and has his Work permit application underway. Now there is a chance of a closer and possibly better paid job on the horizon - the prospective new employer has said they would also be happy to aid in his WP application.
What does he need to do if he gets his WP and then changes job before he gets his PR?
It is still doing the same line of work and I know he would have to contact NZIS but does ha have to re-submit in full again or is new letter from new employer acceptable?
Cheers Gang

I'm fairly sure there is a form you can get, I think is called a variation or something, and you have to pay about $80.

the form is called variation of contract he will need to get his new employer to fill it and send in a copy of his new contract most employers are aware of the procedure i had to do a variation as my employer sold out to another company and staff went with the new company as i was not changing job only employers name everything inc contract was staying the same only needed confirmation by letter of the take over and the date i did not need to stop work while variation was processed hope this helps be it a long winded

Its called a Variation of conditions, and you need to get the form NZIS 1113. The new employer has to fill it in and your friend only needs to pay $60. I've had 7 of the sods, and have my own chair in immigration with my name on it:laugh

Here is the answer from the NZIS website:
If your employer is named on your Work Permit, then you need to inform us that you’ve changed employer. You will need to apply for another Work Permit and must apply for a new permit when you have a job offer. You should not start work in your new job until you have a new Work Permit.
If you gained your permit because you secured a job with an accredited New Zealand employer, you’ll only be able to remain in New Zealand if you’re working for another accredited employer. Even if you find work with another accredited employer, we’ll still need to approve the arrangement.
