What were your reasons for leaving your home country:
To look for more stability and better employment opportunity in my field of work. Also better education facility for my child.
What were your reasons for choosing New Zealand:
Clean image. Skill shortage in IT industry so more opportunity for myself. Good education system. Safe and healthy environment for my family.
What differences have you noticed between your NZ town and your home town:
Better infrastructure, more job opportunities. Less polluted. However access to health system is much easier in my previous home town.
What do you like best about New Zealand:
Clean, natural, less pollution, more opporunities in IT field.
What don't you like about New Zealand:
Some suburbs can be a little rough, crimes amongst youth maybe rising. I really hate grafitis.
What do you miss from your home country:
My family and culture.
How easily did you find work in New Zealand:
Had a job offer as System Admin just after 2 weeks after arriving here with quite a reputed multinational company.
How does your working life in New Zealand compare with your previous work experiences:
Commuting to work is much easier and vacation / holiday system is much better.
What is your daily commute time:
20 mins.
How does your standard of living in New Zealand compare with your previous country:
I really like it here.
How does your quality of life now compare with your previous country:
Quality of life is better in most reards, however I miss my family a lot.
Do you have any other personal experiences or observations that would be useful for people considering immigrating to New Zealand:
Before coming here, I had heard a lot that how hard it would be for me to find a job in my field as a non white migrant and that being a Pakistani would make it immpossible and I would end up dirving a taxi like most Asians. However, after arriving here I found things different all together. I started having interviews almost immediately after sending in my first application. After just two weeks of job hunting, I got a great offer. 2 more offers were in the pipeline as well. So all in all quite a positive experience for me.
