Hiring Intentions of NZ Employers
The Manpower* worldwide survey for the final three months of 2005 discovers New Zealand employers are optimistic.
From the 23 countries surveyed, New Zealand's employers reported the second strongest hiring intentions, behind only Indian employers.
The survey reveals that New Zealand's employment market is still very healthy, although somewhat cooler than last year.
28 percent of New Zealand employers expect to hire additional staff during the upcoming quarter.
6 percent anticipate a decrease in employment.
Net employment outlook is 22 percent.
Employers surveyed in the Wellington region reported the strongest figures.
Wellington net hiring intention: 32 percent.
Auckland net hiring intention: 19 percent.
Christchurch net hiring intention: 18 percent.
The sectors anticipating the strongest job growth were mining, construction, finance, insurance, real estate, transport and utilites. Manufacturing businesses anticipated less job growth.
