Hi any advice appreciated,
We are thinking of making the move, but my son is half way through his 'a' levels, he is concerned that the structure of the subjects he has studied so far will be too different for him to make the change mid term so to speak, and is worried that to move now will ruin his chances of getting good results. Although I would like to move asap, I am happy to stay in the UK until he finishes his A's if it is for the best. However he is also concerned that when it comes to universities he will be disadvantaged regarding the prospectus of the subjects he has studied in the UK and the choices open to him at NZ Uni's. His A's are Chemistry Biology and Psychology, with Geography at AS level. At present he is thinking of doing Psychology/Law at degree level, but nothing is certain! I am sure he would be ok, but am having trouble convincing him. So if anyone out there able to advise from experience, or any teachers/lecturers who can suggest sites where he may be able to check course structures etc. At the moment he is suggesting he stays here on his own to do his degree, and will follow us on, but I am not happy about doing that, so any assistance in convincing him it will be ok would be appreciated! |

I'm not 100% sure that this will help but will post it anyway. Some NZ schools offer students the opportunity to take Cambridge International exams or something similar (IB) ... the schools are listed in the following email link ... perhaps you could try contacting them. This is a "hot issue" for some NZ schools/students/parents.

I would recommend staying for the A levels then showing him, from the website how great Canterbury University is!!
www.canterbury.ac.nz
See if any of the subjects interest him.
Happy convincing
