I wonder if someone would be kind enough to offer us some advice. We are seriously looking into emigrating to nz, and with a job offer for my husband (he is a welder and on the OSL) we can get in the region of 155 points. I know that at the moment this is not enough, but the general advice is that the total of 185 is going to come down. Obviously, as a welder it will be impossible to get a job offer over the telephone from the UK, so here is our plan. In May we are hoping to go over to nz for approx a month, to have a look around, find an area we would like to settle in, and, (hopefully fingers crossed ) get a job offer. Then we would come back to the UK sell up and move back to nz. We would then apply for residence from over there. (Unless, of course, we find a REALLY understanding employer who would wait for us to apply before we left UK)

Has anybody else done this. Eek Or does it sound really crazy Nutcase

Help. We have two children, and really want to give them the best possible chances in life, but dont want to jump out of the frying pan into the fire!!!!

We have some friends who moved to New Zealand 3 weeks ago, they moved on the husbands job, he is a welder. He got 2 job offers just by visiting a migration show in London in October last year, from interview to offer while at the show! Welders are in a lot of demand from what they said. Are yuou going to Emigrate 2004 (www.emigrate2004.co.uk) this weekend, you never know.... fingers crossed

Many thanks for your reply.

When your friends went to the show, do you know what stands were there.?We went to the emigrate 2003, and it was only the NZIS stand there. Rolling Eyes

We are going this weekend though.

Best Wishes

Our friends went to a show in Earls Court last October, it wasn't Emigrate 2003, not sure what the show was called though, sorry. As far as I'm aware there will be job agencies at the show this weekend but I have been unable to find any details. I have my fingers crossed though! (I'm in IT). Good luck!! Nice One
