Hi all,
Just had a quotation from British Airways for airtransportation of my dogs and cat to Auckland from the UK.
Get a load of this...
1 German Shepherd
2 Border Collies
1 Cat
>>>> £5550
Wowsers, anyone out there who has transported pets to NZ from UK offer any ideas? cheaper airlines?
I was thinking of putting them in a shipping container with lots of food and water and saving myself £2000 but it maybe slightly illegal.
this is based on the following..
The pet container details as follows
Measurements in cm
Dog 1 = 137x61x91 gross weight 59.6kg
Dog 2 = 107x56x91 gross weight 43.6kg
Dog 3 = 97x56x81 gross weight 40.9kg
Cat = 41x31x36 gross weight 5.4kg
Charges are as follows :
Rate per kg £5035.16 (£16.34 per kg)
Handling £95.00
Fuel £27.00
Vet seal £272.00 (£68.00 each)
Customs £20.00
Total £5550.00 (Approx.)
regards

Good Idea mate, but would think that too would be illegal.
Regardless, on the face of it, it's very expensive... I dont know how much if costs per kilo for regular freight (it might too be this expensive???)
Does anyone else know contact details for other cargo airlines? |

Hi
Urge you to get a quote from Golden Arrow Shippers in Shropshire UK - they have a great reputation and seem to take all the hassle and running around for the tests on for you.
We are taking 3 dogs
German Shepherd
Border Collie
Xbreed similar size to Border collie
And 3 cats too. We have been quoted £5000 all-in from UK to Dunedin. The guy who runs it is excellent and caring.

| Hi, I phoned around a cuple of weeks ago to various shippers and found the place in shropshire to be the most responsive, and they actually sound as if they care about what they are doing. didn't get as far as prices though. it was general stuff. Must be worth the cost of the phone call to see what they can offer you. regards Veronica |

Thanks Ruth, Veronica.
I will try that one in Shropshire i think.
Certainly sounds cheaper than the BA quotation.
Thanks and good luck

Anyone have a cost estimate about shipping from the southeastern US? We have:
1 Dog - Border Collie mix - around 45lbs. (Chase, the dog-faced boy )
1 Cat - Domestic - around 10lbs. (Lemeiux )
We also have 3 ferrets, 2 rats, and a snake, which we would unfortunately have to part with if we were to make the move. Please tell me it's worth it!
Thx! |
