After chating with my brother-in-law the other day, he mentioned that he has heard that some New Zealanders are not happy with the amount of people migrating over there. Does anyone know if this is becoming a real issue for some people? I can understand why it would be, probably for the same reasons that I would like to go there. Does anyone have any thoughts?

i've been following the online nz newspapers for a while. the main issue as far as i can see has been immigration from china especially in auckland. recent policy changes will cut numbers.

I think that wherever you go you will find people who are not happy with one aspect or another of life in their country and like to balme their troubles on one group or another. My experience of NZ has certainly not suggested any antipathy towards Brit immigrants, although I woudl agree with Rodders comment about a rising degree of anti-Chinese feeling in some areas. The only other thing I have noticed is a degree of resentment for "rich" immigrants coming in and buying property at inflated prices, which is perceived as pushing the market upwards.
