Hi psh12001

Definitely gonna make the move later this summer, probably Auckland though. Have you found any difficulty in getting used to the culture and I suppose the big one......do you feel any worse off financially? As a tourist it's good value going to NZ but what's it like living from day to day on NZ wages?

Glad to hear to you are enjoying yourself, we'll be moving down from Warrington way ourselves. Clapping Nice One

hi craig, I cant say much about NI, as I havent been but listening to kiwis who have lived there and been there, they all say its very different and especially say auckland is yuk. I wont say that life here has been a breeze and that everything has been easy , because it hasnt. In Uk we got a lot of extra monies fron child benifit and tax credits and here for the first year you get nothing , just your wage. My wage was quite poor and i took ill and we had to live on 80% of my income for two months while on acc.that was a hard time and my wife had to get a part time job so we could stay afloat...It has took till now to prove to my employer I am worth paying some more. I think that all things are relitive though when you look at what things cost in uk and what they cost here...If you can move from uk and sell a house there and come with a pot of pounds and buy a house outright or have a small morgage , like we have now done(we rented for 9 months which is costly)... than its worth every penny coming here. Less stress, less people , less cars less crime its like the uk but with out any citys. Christchurch is very english and you could almost think you are in uk some days( when its raining mainly) with how it looks, its not really like a uk city, more a big town like bolton or stockport but more open, so free. I beleive that auckland is very multi cultural and not very english and traffic there is a nightmare. consider it wisely what you want in life and do research about north and south Islands especially about the two cities...and good luck Paul Nice One

Hi psh,

My hubby and I are coming to Ch/Church in September and will be looking for and IT job for him as soon as we touch down - we intend to stay for 6 months on a Visitors Visa.

In your experience, are jobs easy to find in IT in Ch/Church?

Plus, we intend renting whilst there - any recommendations for a letting agent?

Any job/rental leads or contacts you could provide would be a real bonus - thanks in advance for your help.

Regards
Moorf

hi moorf, it jobs and chch dont go very well together. I am not saying i havent seen them advertised in the press news paper here in chch, but north island is better for that type of job ,but you dont wanna go there ...its crap so ive heard lol! If you let me know what type of it jobs your after i can keep my eyes peeled for you in the press. with regards to renting try general site for housing at www.realenz.co.nz , or ggod luckharcourts estate agents at www.harcourts.co.nz, or e mail cowdy@cowdy.co.nz as i know they all do rentals. good luck !!
