A Maori friend told me on my last visit that Stewart Island, although cold and sparse is very beautiful - apparently the sea is as clear as tap water for as far as you can see.
Just wondering if anybody has any first hand experience?

One of my favourite places in the world.
I've spent a few weeks there (hiking around the island through the rainforest and along the beaches).
The best analogy I can think of - when it's sunny, it looks and feels like a tropical island, but without the tropical weather. It gets a lot of precipitation though, and is generally a cold place. |

What no ones going to bite, remembering that most of our familys consider us nuts, a little levity is not our of order.
No offence ment. I come from a long line of teasers and pranksters, something I undstand is rather common in N.Z
Cheers, wow that was the first time I ever said cheers being a yankee and all. Justin |

Justin,
No offence taken, but I will say that your attempt at humour was way over my head champ, and I'd also recommend sticking to the topic.
Kinda killed this converstaion for me, thanks a bunch.

For the record then, here was the thought process, aurora picture shows him drinking a glass of red wine. A totally normal thing, unless of coarse it was in an unappropriate place, say a hospital viewing room.
I could have gone the drinking in a autopsy room. Like the guy in the movies that is always eating in an autopsy room. Suggesting that the guys is weird for doing something typical in an untypical situation.
It struck me as funny, but then again us Americans cant get enough Jim Cary and his fart jokes. Not that makes us the only ones, there was of coarse Benny Hill...............
Anyway, I hope you and the rest of us make it down to Stewart Island some day. |

Hi,
No offence was taken, mate!
Just for the record, that photo was taken during a typical Satudary night pi*s-up in Antarctica.
Oh, and Australia/NZ produce some of the best red wines in the world, so when in Rome ...
Cheers (hic) |
