Hi, I'm living in Dunedin, and wondered if anyone else is enjoying life (or not) in our city?

Was thinking of having a get together, so please PM if you are interested.

Anyway, I'm a kiwi from way back, have married a Brit and have finally repatriated to Dunedin with our 2 kids, after mnay years in London. Have been here 9 months, generally getting settled and am finally doing something about getting some employment - sabbatical over.

Loving the Dunedin lifestyle, great to have such wonderful beaches, coastline, bush and mountains so very close.

Am amazed about how many expats there are in Dunedin, we keep on bumping into new ones, especially Brits, but South Africans, Americans and others too.

But from a quick scan I can't see too many people on EmigrateNZ heading south. Please tell me NOT everyone is still going to the ghetto on the north shore!!

OK - "good sir" has checked again and indeed a few seem have resisted the Browns Bay/Torbay area.

But where is everyone who is heading south of Christchurch? I spotted Ruth J, and possibly the Moorfs.

Oh well, looks like I'll have to enjoy all this wonderful scenery and lifestyle in relative solitude - what a shame Clapping Smile Clapping

My wife's brother is living in Dunedin. She visited him about a month ago and got great vibes from the place. In fact Dunedin and Wellington topped her list of places to live, over her hometown Auckland.

Soo depending on work we may well be heading down south.. not making any decision until after a long sabbatical from work spent travelling around the country though! But Dunedin sounds promising. And there are loads of cool NZ bands from there too.. Well, there were 15 years ago..

As it happens she brought back a six pack of Macs Gold for me (I was stuck in London doing exams while she was away in NZ) - Ahhh lovely stuff Nice One

A few IT roles come up, but same old story, you have to be here to be in with a chance.

360km, about 5 hours' drive.

Dunedin is serious about attracting immigrants. They offer a free "Dunedin Advantage" CD, which has short movies and handy links. Heck, they spent NZ$14 on postage to ship me the CD, so I feel obligated to give the city some consideration!
