You should try it with a learner plate on the back! I am sure that it would be safer not to have them at all given how they treat learners as soft targets here!
Drunk driving, regrettably, is one of the largest causes of deaths here. They have yet to get to grips with the matter, preferring not to ban or incarcerate offenders. One high profile case recently got sent down for killing his fourth victim. Should have got life for the first IMHO
I also recently saw a lucky woman who had fallen over 100m down a near vertical drop after hitting a possum on the road. (minor injuries only)There is a move to put armco on the tighter bends used by tourists (looks bad if too many fall off after all) but locals just seem to find it part of the fun. Anyone who wishes to lose their lunch is invited to drive along summit road (port hills, Christchurch). It is most fun just after dusk when the colour of the road almost exactly matches the verge in your headlights... |

Hi all, i have a Kiwi friend from Auckland who took us to Piha, to be honest i was terrified, he drove like a nutter, he commented that alot of the local lads drive like rally drivers as they know the roads so well, having said that, it can be scary on the b roads here as well
