|

Hi! I hope there are some horse people out there??! Hoping to emigrate by the end of this year, bringing my horses with me.... yes, mad, I know
Where are the best horse areas? We'd like to be rural, but not too out in the sticks. How does riding compare to the UK? ie is it easy to get off road, can you ride in forestry, beaches, private land etc?? Any info gratefully received! |

| I understand the Clevedon about a half hour outside of Auckland is an full blown horse community. But also advertised as quite pricey. It is a Very pretty place |

One thing I do know is that I don't want to be toooo close to Auckland! I'd like to be at least an hour away, and I'm thinking it would be best to be south of Auckland as if you are north, beautiful as it is, you have to go through Auckland to get anywhere. I'm not a city person by any stretch of the imagination and would like to avoid that kind of traffic / motorways etc at all costs
Thanks for the input so far, though |

Hi,
just sent you a pm about this, in case you don't get it I'll put it here as well.
on another nz site I've just seen a message from a horse transport co. They write they'll be moving two horses to nz next year, but still have space for one more horse which could be transported for the same price. There's a link and a name one could contact. Thought maybe this might interest you.
Go to www.uk2nz.co.uk click on chat, then on services offered.
Good luck

No I don't live in Whitford, but have done quite a lot of research on Auckland prior to moving and have been there for a bit during a visit to NZ last year because my wife is horsey too.
General impressions...
Most of the horsey stuff, including polo, is based around this part of Auckland. Looked a nice tidy area in a semi-rural location...big houses, large gardens (didn't check the prices though), lots of lifestyle blocks if you venture into the countryside proper.
Very white, middle-class, and community-values. Not much shopping if that's your thing.
Clevedon is the suburb closest to Auckland and is the focal point for the locals. |
