Hi everyone

This is my first post so please bear with me.

Am looking into the viability of buying an existing business (probably in tourism of some description) around the christchurch area and wondered if anybody could shed some light on the possibility of being able to gain a business visa.

Have a wife and 2 children (8 and 10) so schooling is important.

If anybody could offer some pointers it would be greatly appreciated.

At the moment my wife and I run our own recruitment agency (and have done for over 6 years) in UK but have had enough of the way the country is heading and would rather invest our time energy and what finances we have into a country that respects a working ethic.
we are both aged 40.

Thanks in advance for your help and advice

Hi deanadroit,

Try this if you've not seen it.

Although about franchising, it does discuss what the Immigration service is looking for in a business visa application.

It is by no means to be taken as gospel, but the visa agent I am using has just told me in the last few days that franchising is not in their opinion, the best route to take at the moment.
Of course in theory, every application is taken on it`s merits, and there is no written rule that says franchises are a no go.
This is purely the advise given to me within the last week, based on my agents experiences with nzis on business visas.

We are over in Chch at the moment on a LTBV and were under the impression that you must have experience in the same type of business that you apply for. might be worth checking that out if you are thinking of switching from recruitment to tourism.
