heehee I look back at my original postings when I first joined (only April this year!!) and BOY have I come on !!! - I'm also a complete chatterbox hence the massive amount of posts!!

I've always found that my verbal diarrhoea (argh, waiting for the teacher to correct that!!! Uhoh ) has meant I learn from asking daft questions Laughing and I've never been shy !!

I'm going to be really annoying here Rolling Eyes , and point out that it should be "number" of posts, not "amount". It's a plural you see... whip

Hee hee - you lot are very funny. Laughing I will post more often (kids permitting!! crybaby ). I do enjoy this forum and have found it very informative - and I esp love the stories from those that are already there. They inspire me when I'm having a 'are we doing the right thing?' kind of day Confused .
You would think being a kiwi and having lived there most of my life, that moving home would be no big deal. But I've lived in London for nearly eight years, got married, got a mortgage, had two kids, acquired two mad Devon Rexes (cats) and basically moved on - as has everyone back home (moved on, not necessarily acquired so many things - if you see what I mean). So I am quite worried about the whole thing.
Anyway, what you may learn about me is I don't say one word when twenty will do the same job!! Yes, I do talk alot (not for nothing was my childhood nickname 'Chatterbox'!!)

Now that I've bored you all to tears, gotta go get some sleep. My eldest has taken to 6am wakings recently (arghhhh, way too early Hmmm ).

We're seeing the Pareto 80/20 law in action. The law applies to all sorts of situations. In this case 80% of the posts are made by 20% of the members, not that I'm mentioning any names. Nice One

In fact nearly all forums are like this otherwise old Pareto would be wrong. That would never do because lots of stuffy economists would be forced to re-write their hideous textbooks. Mr. Green

Hi Rodders

I am a lurker most of the time, but have also made occasional posting from time to time.

This is a great forum
Keep up the good work guys.

Yup - I admit it too. I'm more of a 'learner' than a 'natterer' - I always think I'm the quiet one at parties Embarassed , and sometimes this forum is a bit like that!

However, the other reason that I've not made massive postings is the type of visa I'm going on. We've decided to go down the Investor Visa route, which seems a bit of a lonely furrow Sad A lot of the banter is about WTR and POL and such-like, although I do find the general discussion of life in NZ to be really useful.

Anyway, will jump in more often than I have been doing.

This will probably be my one and only post. I'm a quiet man at heart like NickH. I prefer to listen rather than talk. I've just registered a few minutes ago to thank you all for your posts. They've made a big difference to my wife and me, informing us and inspiring us on our road to the North Shore. I'd like you all to know that. Good luck everyone.

A catch 22 for me,

I found this forum, thought 'great' Smile needed to ask a question, so registered, asked question, then asked a few more questions, (THANKS everyone who has replied - really helpful), but then although it seemed a bit rude not to introduce ones self it seemed a bit late to say 'Oh Hi, Yes, by the way this is who I am! Embarassed '

So

Oh Hi , yes, by the way this is who I am!!!! Laughing

name of Helen, (register wouldn't give me 'Helen' so hence 'H' - my nick name in school/work).
My partner and I have talked more or less since we met about emigrating - but for a number of reasons we worked out that 2005 would be the 'open window' so to speak. we were planning on making the move next Octoberish(05), and were deciding between Canada (Partners choice, and NZ, my choice) but then things kinda roller coasted a few weeks ago when we got a job offer, pretty much out of the blue, from a NZ company. Partner a bit put out coz he was still hoping to convince the rest of us that Canada was best! very sad But this job offer, along with the offer of a lovely 4-bed house to rent from friends till we decide to buy, with 1 acre of land for our huskies (anyone reading an earlier post will know what I am on about!) and pennies in pocket (due to current UK housing situation) seems to be too good an opportunity to miss. Yes
It is a bit more complex as my eldest son is half way through his A's, and I need the courts permission to remove my eldest daughter out of the country (divorced from her unhelpful dad - anyone any advice here?) so My partner plans to go over with our two youngest children as soon as we get accepted (SMC route - but need to get permissions from court through before we can apply!) and I will follow with the two oldest when he's done his A's. A few people think we are a bit mad doing it this way (Families! Confused No Eek Uhoh sigh very sad ), but we think it's ok. fingers crossed
Yes, get the wobblies every now and then, read a few negative posts and wonder if we are doing the right thing, particuarly as neither of us have been to NZ before!! Uhoh so Yes, taking a bit of a gamble, but we reckon we'll give it a good crack, if it doesn't work - it won't kill us!! Nice One

Anyway - thats us in a nutshell!

so happy posting everyone! Smile

This forum is excellent because of the quality of the posts and the friendly nature. I don't think it matters if there are so many more lurkers than posters - The overall aim is to inform and support anyone with hopes of starting a new life in new zealand, and this is being accomplished fantastically! I don't post often but I still feel very welcome to join in - This isn't a cliquey forum like some others I've encountered and it's great for morale.

HI
my name is jens and since a few weeks i am visiting this chatroom on a regular basis, very impressive and helpful in deed.
This has been the main reason why i have never posted anything yet, as, given time, one can basically read on forever and get most questions answered. Clapping
But now, having been invited to show face, i will do so, gladly. Smile

In mid june we have filed our application under the investors category, could not get enough points together for the general skilled one (knocking on a bit with 41 years of age), and so my wife and i plus two kids, 7 and 9, hope to hear very soon from NZIS of how long the whole process will take.

Are there any other readers out there who could shed some light on this category??
I have posted such a question in two other chatrooms, but have never received a reply, so i am more hopeful on this one!

Why NZ?? Basically out of the same reasons everybody else has given already, so I spare you a repitition.

Main reason however was, that, after living in the UK for the last 12 years i will be loosing my job for no apparrant reason and hence got the opportunity to step back and consider what I want to do with the rest of my life.

Staying in the UK would not be the first choice, nor going back to Germany in the current climate. So my wife and i have decided to either migrate to Australia or to NZ, and as it seems to be more risky to do so in Australia, i would have to found my own company, we decided to try NZ.

I will keep reading and posting from now onwards but for today it should be enough.

Keeping my fingers crossed for all of you fingers crossed
