|
|
Hello all,
The advice alluded to is this;
Agent 1: Hairdressing is not an acceptable trade and as such will not be submissable on an EOI.
Agent 2: Hairdressing, provided the qualification was gained over a three year period, is a recognised qualification and eligable for 50 points.
NZIS 1: The qualification is recognised so claim 50 points for it.
Me: Granted, but it doesn't appear to be on the acceptable trades list, which in the op. manual constitutes a no-go as a recognised qualification also needs to be in an acceptable trade.
NZIS 1 & 2: If you feel you qualify as a skilled migrant then apply, claiming the points.
What do you guys make of this? Is this an indication that NZIO's are directed to get as many EOI's as possible, even in the knowledge they may fail?
Is this an indication of a mechnanism by which NZIO's can exorcise personal discretion within the process, i.e. ok the qual is recognised and they are from the UK so we'll let them in despite the acceptable trades list?
As a footnote, Agent 3: You qualify for Australia so if you gain an Ozzy residency visa you have, in effect, a New Zealand residency visa.
AAAaaaaaaghhhhhhh!!!!!!! |

I've been looking up the australian immigration site and at the moment it looks like I would have a much beter, sory I mean at least a chance of getting in there. Does anybody know if this would allow me to get into New Zealand as well or would I have to wait and gain citizenship in australia first? Just a thought as a possible backdoor. |

I was told by an agent that there exists an agreement between Oz and NZ (and other pacific states) whereby residents of one country are free to take up residency in another with very little red-tape involved.
He also said I could activate an Oz visa by being in Oz for 48 hours or so then flying on to NZ.
Try emailing or phoning agents asking for general advice and pop the question. Ask a few because I have had differing opinions on subjects as stated above.
If you phone the NZIS in Welly you can even ask them, they are quite candid and don't take names anyway. Then ask an Oz immigration official. If all say yes then at least you know the back door is there, for now at least... |

Hi Rob,
Your wife may ned to have the quals assessed by NZQA....this will be a lot more expensive than applying to enter the pool My advice....record who you spoke to at NZIS date time name advice given and apply..blag as much as you can and if you really have to get NZQA involved then do so after NZIS start talking to you about PR.
PS. We all need haircuts....what does your wife charge for 2 year old twins?
Good luck
Karl
