Hi, Dinnaefash,
My situation is the same as yours. My Kiwi husband wishes to return to NZ and he is sponsoring me as his partner. However, we have elected for me to go over initially on the 2 year work visa/permit, applied for under the partnership scheme, and I will apply for PR once we are in NZ. We do have a cover letter we are sending to the NZ Consulate in Los Angeles by Stephen on my behalf. If you think it will be of use to you, please send me a PM and I will send it along to you.
All the best, Rae |

there are tips for putting together a covering letter on the NZIS london website here:
http://www.immigration.govt.nz/Branch/LondonBranchHome/Checklists/
click the "London - Tips on Residency Application Checklist" link..
in our cover letter we just:
- stated who we were and what we were applying for (PR under partnership policy)
- gave brief overview of the history of our relationship: when we started living together, where we've lived together, date married etc.
- listed all documents we were including
and that was about it.. there were no special medical or police issues to flag up.
