I am on 125 according to the point calculator on NZIS, and with the points now at 120 (or was it 115...) I have a question, or should that be quandry....

I wasnt planning on going out until next year, probably around July. So what is the processing time for the application, and how long does the inivitation last before it expires?

I just feel as though getting on the boat now might be the best plan, just in case it goes back up.
Thoughts?

Go for it now.

The reduction in points is a knee jerk reaction caused by pressure from politicians in nz.

I know of two immigration consultants, who both say it will rise next year.

Remember they missed last years immigration quota.

Great for us all the same, but anyone out there still thinking about it with less than 140 points - be warnedit may not last.

I thought after everything had gone through and you were OK you then had a year to act on it?

Azazel, you are correct. Once they have sent you your residence permit (think thats the right one) you have a year to get over there - once you land they stamp it and it becomes a residence visa (think i've got them around the right way - correct me if im wrong). But considering timescales for assessing everything, you can apply now and enter the country late next year.
