I have just read that your UK licence is only valid for 3 MONTHS is this correct?
On car insurance ,would it be advisable to take proof of no claimes over to NZ. Or is there a differant system in NZ.

your uk licence if moving to live in nz is valid for one year, you must take a theory test within that timeframe and apply for your equivalent nz licence.
this is the case if you have held your full uk driving licence for 2 years or over.

most car insurers wiil honour your uk NCB discount if you bring the proof with you. also remember that car insurance isn't a legal requirement in nz, but it is highly recommended.

hope this helps Razz

No Just a theory test thats all. Wifey ent to the NZAA, bought a book "The Road Code", 3 days later took the test and passed with 100%. Piece of proverbial. I have an NZ licence from many years ago and this was just bought up-to-date. You must carru your licence with you when you drive or you risk a spot fine!

I't advisablr to bring NCD infor but not essential My insurance company didn't even wan to see it and gave me 65% (STATE..quite competative).
