Sorry to start this up but as I see it bring TV's and run through the video presumably a new NZ video but what about the videos, will my UK videos play on a NZ video.

DVD players are these OK to bring ?

Thinking of stocking up on DVD's videos etc for those long winter rainy nights when you are faced with a night with "Holmes"

All video tapes are pretty much the same so your new NZ video player should play UK tapes.

Your best bet with your DVD player is to get it "chipped"...this makes it multi-regional so that it can play DVDs bought anywhere in the world.
NZ is part of a different DVD region to the UK, so a UK-chip DVD player will not play DVDs bought from NZ (or, bought online from USA for example). Only costs a tenner or so...

Hi Graham

Thanks for the reply

Is it easy to get the DVD "chipped" in NZ or is that the sort of thing that you get done before you leave.

You can buy a multy region dvd player from Best Buy in America for $35.00. Amazing to think that dvd players locally are cheaper than vcr's

We bought a dvd burner for $299.00 from them and have been burning every movie we can get our hands with the same lonely night logic.

As well as loading up on all the good childrens programs as well.

WE also picked up a PAL- NTSC converter that should allow our tv;s and such to work as well $99.00 at best buy.

As a stand by you could also play your DVD's via your PC provided you update your driver with new software/firmware to make it multiregional!

Sofware is downloadable by searching freeware sites. It doesn't work however on combined DVD/CD-RW drives!

Multiregional DVD players are as cheap as NZ$100!

cool
