In an attempt to ensure that I wil have enough points to be drawn out of the pool I have been trying to figure out how to equate my qualifications, and experience, into some sort of tertiary paper.
I noticed that you can be granted 50 points for holding anything from a level 4 certificate and higher. Armed with that information (anyone care to confirm this?) I went in search of a school that would give me equivalency. Much to my surprise credit for prior-learning is not only accepted in NZ, but encouraged as a path to continued education.
Has anyone had any success in establishing equivalency of credentials (I am trying to equate IT credentials)? Has anyone had any issues/successes with equivalent credetials and the NZIS?
Thanks for your patience with my questions. My wife and I are more intent than ever to emigrate to NZ. It seems that everyone well tell our plans to give us "the look", and then proceed to tell us why we can't possible leave a 6-figure job to live in NZ -- especially for 4 children, one of whom is autistic. For shame! Don't they realize that they more they tell me that I can't do it, the more apt I am to do it just to spite them? |

You may try to inquire and get certification with NZQA
http://www.nzqa.govt.nz/
Do you have IT certifications like msce or ccna? |

Arlevien:
I actually got to the PLA (Prior Learning Assessment) page from the NZQA website -- although I am note sure if the two are one in the same.
Yes, I have my MCSE (Windows 2000), CNA, and A+ -- plus 6 years experience. I am hoping that they will grant certificate equivalency -- I could use the extra 50 points on my EOI. |
