I'm considering to emigrate to N.Z. Naturally, my main concern is employment.

What would be my chance to find a job as an Electronics & RF Technician with more than 10 years of experience? I'm 54 y.o.

What is the equivalent of A.A. Degree in N.Z.?

Thanks

Hello Yoji2

Please check the website for available job postings ie: the likes of Taits Electronics, and Telecom New Zealand.
Another good web site is seek.co.nz if you are looking for technical jobs

Most employers require you to attend an interview before they give you a job offer, and this makes it difficult if you are overseas.

You will need to check the immigration website to see if your qualification is on their list. If this not stated on their list you will need to get NZQA to assess your qualification. This costs about NZ$ 400, and takes about 4 -6 weeks to process.

Assuming that you are currently overseas, without a work permit or permanent residency status, you will need a job offer to apply for a work visa to travel to NZ and then be issued with a work permit on arrival.

If you are interested in applying for residency, there is a new Skilled Migrant Category that comes into effect in mid Dec 03. However this is available for people under the age of 55.

Check out the immigration website immigration.govt.nz

I hope that the above helps

Abdul
