Has anyone got any tips ??

Hi mc,
Forgive my ignorance, but I'm not sure what logistics is.
The rules at the moment are that to gain residence via purchase of a franchise, you either need to have already owned a similar business or have management experience in a business similar to the one you plan to buy as a franchise.
If that's not helpful, there are plenty of folks here who, I'm sure, will be able to explore other possible routes if you'd like? |

Hi JCM
Thanks for the reply .
Logistics is the supply of goods to shops retail outlets.
I am working as a shift manager for a supermarket chain , I work in a depot which supplies goods to some 150 supermarkets . I have spent some 16 years in this field.
From your comments a franchise may not work for me.
What are the first steps i need to take ?? is it too get a job? or concentrate on getting a visa, as i said my work is not that specialist and may not be an asset to the country . |

| Do you have a degree or some sort of university/college qualification that relates to your logistics work at all? |

Hi again mc,
Ian's question is a good one because if you're not on one of the shortage lists, having a degree or trades qualification is important in terms of getting points for Skilled Migration, and there are many more points available if your job is relevant to your qualification.
Apart from the business route and the Skilled Migrant route, the only way I can think of is for you to come here on 'holiday', find work, and get a work permit that way. You'll be aware from other posts though that many employers are unwilling to hire people who don't already have the legal right to work in NZ because the employer then has to establish that there was no New Zealander available to do the job. Perhaps you could try feeling your way ahead by phoning some of the major supermarkets here asking in general terms about the jobs situation in logistics. You might be lucky...........
Pak n Save, Countdown and Woolworths/Big Fresh are the biggest supermarkets.
If you do contact them, please keep us posted on how you get on. |
