|
|
I spoke today with a friend who has been working in Auckland for the last 2 yrs. He turned up with no work visa a couple of years ago and found a job within days - he was lucky, the company he applied to was able to help with his visa etc.
I have heard of a particular "type" of company that has a sort of pre-authorisation to employ from abroad - does anyone know the official category for these companies and, if so, is there a list of these companies somewhere?
On another note, my friend advised that there is indeed a huge shortage of IT personnel in Auckland at present - he couldn't comment on the Christchurch area.
Thanks in advance
Moorf

Hello
The official category is a Talent Visa. It is a type of work to residence visa through companies accredited with NZIS. This is the visa we have just applied for. It is a 'fast track' system and once NZIS receive your application you should have your visa within 10-14 days. I will let you know how long ours takes.
There is a list of the accredited companies on the NZIS website.

hi moorf!
that's what we hear too - IT shortage in auckland .... music to our ears ! although having one million neighbors doesn't sound like fun to us. we've never been there - so we won't know how it FEELS until that day comes.... like you it seems, we 'toy' one day with chch, one day with wellington - then oh, it's friday - must be auckland day
we've found a great organization of approx. 750 host families that all have either goats and gardens and orchards and ....we're waiting to get the listings so we can hook up with like-minded NEAR those IT cities. we might have to compromise more than expected for the period of time until pr becomes our reality - if that is indeed what is to be.....
i just told my best friend today about our plans re nz - and so i am heavy hearted. she is more family to me than blood relatives and low and behold - the first thing out of her mouth was : we'll come see you very soon!!!
anyhow - the talent company list will be valuable for us too.
thank you and amanda too.
