Is it worth a try with 105 points? Only I have my On-line EOI all ready to send and am wondering if it is really worth giving it a go. Does anyone think I even stand a chance?
Does the pool work on a lottery basis? i.e. If you are in the pool there is a chance that you could be picked. After all, the lottery motto says "You gotta be in it to win it" and I am thinking it has to be worth a shot.
Any thoughts or comments? |

| hi - I would really try and get your points up first. I have been told by NZIS that only the high points will be chosen for the first few selections. As it costs money to submit your EOI each time, perhaps you would be better waiting until you have maximised your chances. What is your profession? If you are on the POL then you have a good chance of sceuring a job first. good luck! |

No my job is not on the POL. I am an Accountant and may be able to get a job via my current employer, but the Chicken and Egg situation will get the better of me. I cannot really expect my employer to provide me with an indefinate job offer, whilst I await Visa.
I think I may wait a few weeks and see what becomes of the first few dips into the pool. Everyone seems to think the points will drop off once they take out the backlog of high scorers. |

hi - yes, i think you may be right. I think as an accountant you should have a good chance of getting into NZ . why don't you think about applying for work visa first? I am travelling to NZ at end of March on work visa whilst my residency application goes through. There must be plenty of jobs for accountants in NZ. Have you thought about contacting a recruitment agency? I found my nurse job through a very good one and they have been so helpful.
Have you been to NZ? It is a fabulous place!
Good luck |
