Hi,
My husband and I are new to the forum. We've been thinking about taking a step like this for years, and have finally decided to take the plunge and actually make an application. Our children are young enough to make the change, and we're still young enough to have the enthusiasm to do it.
My husband is keener on the whole idea than I am (and I think that might be fairly common, as women tend to be closer to their extended families than men?), but I want a future for my children (6 and 3) that doesn't involve drugs or crime, crowded streets and long working hours, and a future that doesn't require them to have shed-loads of money to enjoy. I want them to be happy and healthy, and that doesn't seem possible now in this country, as fond as I am of England.
We've found this forum incredibly helpful over the last few weeks to encourage us to fill in our EOI, and I'm sure someone will know the answer to this:
There is one field where you have to state start and end dates of relevant work experience. I am still in my (government) job, which I will give up if we are successful in our application. I can't leave the field empty, nor give a date some time in the future for leaving.
It seems wrong, at this early state to "make up" a finish date.
Any suggestions would be welcome.
I have other questions, but I'll put them in a separate post.
Thanks,
J |

Hi there,
What I did was put for the ending date the day I submitted the application on. Obviously I am still working too, and this part caused me a bit of trouble, but that was what I ended up doing, and I figured if they call me, I can explain then. Hope this helps. |

I think that's what I'll end up doing then. Some of the form isn't very user-friendly, it would be useful to have a feedback section so people like us using it could point out places that were confusing.
Thanks for the reply.

According to the NZIS blurb, they're supposed to send out a questionnaire to those who have successfully immigrated to obtain feedback on the whole immigration process.
Could be interesting... |

Hi Ceptor
If you are filling a paper EOI I suggest that you write 'current' in the end
date field, so that it tells you are still employed in your current job.
I dont know if this can be done on the online form as the fields might only accept numbers.
regards
