Hi again all,

Ok, I now understand the EOI process - I filled in an online calculator and we score 155 points - firstly - is this good or bad? This is without a job offer.

Secondly, we plan to go out to NZ in Sept for 6 months - when would be an appropriate time to submit our EOI? Whilst we are out there or just before we leave the UK?

Finally, assuming the points come down - what happens when you are "drawn" / picked and how long from then does it take before you can go live in NZ or does it just give the go ahead to let you live in NZ and look for work?

Good idea that I should re-check points - I have just done so and we score a total of 140 without a job offer.... still good?

If we have lodged an EOI can we get a letter or something from NZIS that would say how many points we are on and that we have lodged and EOI and are "in the system"?

Cheers

Hi Moorf....

Have you thought about filling out you EOI online. It automatically gives you the status of your EOI.

Don't know if you have or not but here is the web address

https://www.immigration.govt.nz/cssm/default.aspx

Good luck Nice One

Hi Craig

Would now be an appropriate time to enter our EOI - i.e we are off to NZ in Sept for 6 months on hol visa...

Cheers

Moorf, you can go through the whole process online and then stop short of actually applying (and paying), and it stays pending for you to go back to later.

Hope that helps.

Can I get anything from NZIS to say, officially, what points we have scored and that we have lodged our EOI? Would it help to mention this to prospective employers - i.e. pointing out that their job offer would mean an extra 50pts etc when we are out in NZ attending interviews?

How long is it, on average, from being drawn to being offered residency? And does this depend on a job offer if picked via EOI?

Sorry, I feel I should know the answers to these questions already but they just keep popping up!

Regards

I was also wondering when would be the best time to submit the EOI. I'd be very interested to know when other people submitted theirs. My partner and I are planning to go out to NZ Aug 2005, and as the process seems like it takes so long I wonder if it would be best to submit the form before we go. Or would it look better on the forms if we were already in NZ? Confused
