|
|
Hi folks,
Sorry if naive question, i'm still new to all this...
What evidence is required for work experience? Do they accept contracts or do you have to supply wage slips or something else?
I worked free lance for a year on a project with a voluntary organisation in Oxford. The hours were not fixed (but i worked over 40 hours a week!!!! for not much money!!!!!!) The work is relevant to my qualifications so i'd like to include it. I have a contract, not very official looking as it was written up by the voluntary organisations secretary on a manual typewriter. Do I need more than this (I could get letter from social services and the healthcare trust who funded the voluntary organisation to employ me). all help welcomed!!!!

Hmm good question - will be interesting when they ask for my references and find that my referee is my husband!! (We ran the co. together!! Better be a GOOD reference.. hint hint)...
Anyway - I would have thought that whether a reference is typed up on a typewriter or not would have no effect - experience is experience... and having seen the salaries offered in NZ they might consider what the charity paid you is a fortune
I'd include everything you can .... |

I would get everything you can and the sooner you start the better, I have had a nightmare trying to get one employer confirm I worked for them because its 20 years ago and they dont keep records that long.
I have got letters from staff who I worked with, payslips, P60's etc.

Oh my - we have to get stuff from that far back?
Anyone have a list of docs needed that they could post - we have 8 weeks to go before we leave and perhaps we could be getting stuff done but not sure where to start!!
Wondered if easier to do once we have job offers - i.e putting a rocket up the proverbial! |

We only have to go back that far because its part of my nursing experience and we are claiming points for it.
The list of docs we are getting together are as follows:
Birth Certificates
Marriage certificates
Degree certificates.
Transcripts of degree course
Professional registration certificates
Job offer letters
Letters from employers confirming work experience.
Police certificates
Medical certificates. I have also included medical reports as I have had a few problems and know it will come up so hopefully having the reports to hand will help speed things up
We are copying most things and getting them certified that way we can supply originals and have certified copies if they need them.
Have we missed anything ???

| If you don't have letters from past employer's then add P60's (UK end of year tax staements) to the list! |

as karl mentioned, your old p60's, and any p45's you have are all helpful;they contain information from your employer at the time, and its an official document from the inland revenue, what better referee.
i also sent on a few past payslips, don't send em all by the way, just one from each of your past employers will do. i sent on mine, and p60's/p45's
all the NZIS require is something on paper that stipulates you have done work in the line that you are applying for,
ie;- i'm an engineer! and on all my payslips,p60's and p45's its stated i worked for " joe bloggs ENGINEERING CO LTD "
[not that ever worked for joe bloggs, though i think i did once ] |

one more thing:-if you write down all your past employers,or better still enclose a copy of your c/v, that way your supplying added information, that, should NZIS require,THEY can get in touch with your past employers.
i doubt that they will, but your being upfront and honest and by supplying such info you are being open.
hope this helps. |

| A statement from the employer, on headed paper, and setting out clearly the duration of your employment, your role, your hours, etc was enough for us. |

A few other things I was told to collect, six letters from freinds describing you in a positive light. Four or so photos of you and your spouse on vacation.
A letter from your University showing that you classes were instructed in English. Sounds odd, but I called mine and they said no problem, they get that request all the time.(mostly from Japan)
Lets see a copy of college transcript, copies of bills mailed to your house with both spouses names on it.
That and about six pints of blood is all they require. |

Thanks all who have replied. I'm going to start collecting now. We are aiming for March (when my MSc dissertation is hopefully finished) but i know it will come around first. I have worked for small voluntary organisations in the past who have a tendency to fold and restart depending on funding so i have some tracking to do I think!
Cheers

Charley
I think the tax office keep records for 7 years so if the business has gone they may be able to help.

| I saw on another forum that someone got a record of thier NI contributions from the NI Office - this proved they were in work - just a thought I guess - we haven't tried it but perhaps others have? |

Hi Matt,
I'm doing an MSc in Public health at Oxford. I start my dissertation soon and hope to get is finished by March. We plan to go over and look for work - I don't know what my chances of finding work are. I was given the impression when we travelled NZ last year that they would be good but who knows till we live there. We're not selling the house just in case we have to come back after 6 months (we can fund looking for work for 6 months). I was told that my chances are much much higher if i'm there and people see my face but will apply for jobs over internet anyway before we leave. No harm in trying I guess. What's your MSc in? Do you have a job to go to?
