Unfrotunately I didn't go to University to do a degree, but I have worked in the same/similar industry for 15yrs and progressed fairly well up the ladders to a mid/senior Marketing manager position in one of the biggest retailers in the UK.

Does anyone know how I can get this work experience accredited or is it as clear as black and white... NO DEGREE NO GO !!!

Assuming you are looking to emigrate the skilled migrant route, all is not necessarily lost just because you did not go to university (I am in a similar position). Points will be awarded for work experience, can't remember what the total is off the top of my head, but with 15 years you should accumulate the max. However, like me, you will probably be reliant on getting an offer for employment with a New Zealand employer to get sufficient points to take you over the magic number (I believe it was reduced to 160 points from last Thursday, with another review scheduled for the autumn when possibly another 5 points will be shaved off the total).

Do you have a professional qualification gained during your employment? If so, this will get you points although it may need to be assessed by the NZQA (I am going through this process at the moment).

Have you had a go at the points calculator on the NZ Immigration service website? This should give you some idea as to what your estimated points tally would be. I used it as a rough guide, if you can get somewhere near the 160 tally then it would definitely be worth looking into things more.

My wife and I first looked at emigrating last year and got rather gloomy as it did not appear we fītted any of the categories. We also took some initial advice from an emigration agent but they were pretty unhelpful (I guess we weren't a "shoe in" and therefore not a quick buck for them). However, having decided this year that we really want to give it a go, and having doing a lot of homework, we have found that a path may be open to us after all. So, don't despair, look closely at all the options and take some advice if necessary (we have from a different agent, I'll reserve judgement for the time being but so far so good), you may find that you may just have to be prepared to take a few more risks and work a bit harder to get what you want.
