I have been corresponding with some people from the UK who moved to NZ a few years ago. They are skilled professionals who are permanent residents. They have told me that they and many other migrants they have met have had a very tough time finding a job in NZ and have seen many people leave, very disapointed. He told me stories of people trying for years with no luck. They feel that there is alot of prejudice against migrants in the workforce there. This has me worried and I was hoping to hear the experiences of others who have actually migrated there and see what your experience has been or if you agree/disagree with this.
thanks,
Michelle |

Hi Michelle,
My own experience, and I know quite a few migrants here in Christchurch - mainly Brits - is that they have all found work, they get on well with their Kiwi neighbours and colleagues, and they truly enjoy life here. I can honestly say that I know no-one who has come from the UK and not found work. Maybe I'm just move in the wrong circles. |
