hi all hope someone can help us in our quest!
we have sold our house in sunny manchester ana our looking to move to nz i am a 33 yr old with wife and 2 girls ,i am an hgv artic driver with dangerous goods licenses etc.
also qualified as a gnvq assesor/verifior in retail as previously retail manager
keep sending cv out to companies to no avail (although c5 driving is skill shortage area)
need job prior to application etc..
what do i do next???????????????????????????????????????????
so all you experienced ones out there help us escape england! |

Hi
It may be worth submitting your qualifications to the NZQA (http://www.nzqa.govt.nz) to get a formal recognition of your qualification. If you have NZQA backing then this would probably make you more appealing to NZ employers. Also check the skills shortage and priority occupations list as these generally show the qualifications needed to be recognised under these areas.

Agreed Taffy!!
This is particularly the case for vocational qualifications which are often harder to objectively compare to NZ equivalents, than academic university degrees.
NZ employers can be understandably reluctant to offer jobs to overseas applicants, when the immigration process (NZQA, possibly professional registration, visas) is so long and cumbersome. If you can the first two of these out of way, it must certainly help chances as it reduces the possibility of future problems, and also demonstrates commitment.

cheers for advice u guys
sometimes me wonder though ? how likes of petrol tanker drivers is not classed as a skill? when u look at some of skill shortages??????
all companies on vacancy websites in nz seem as rest as world , major shortage of experienced hgv drivers!
maybe nz getting like uk most important job is social worker!
dont want to hurt anyones feelings now do we!!
tony blair and his policies seem to be spreading round the world!
