Hi everyone, I'm new to the list and thought i would share my thoughts and ask a few questions!!
Me, my husband and 2 kids (4&7) are at the beginning of the emigration ladder to NZ. I am having a telephone interview this evening with a NZ travel agent and am hoping that I may get a job offer at the end. If we do get in then we are hoping to land in Nelson (if anyone has any info or thoughts on this choice I would be grateful), this is also where the job post is situated. I have worked out that I have 170 points (if i get the job) and hope this will be enough to get through. But I still have a few ?? on whether my qualifications will be accepted ect. There seems to be soo many grey areas in this immigration game.
I will write back and let you know if i have put in my EOI tomorrow.

Good luck Sara
I know that there is a website somewhere out there that enables you to check if your qualifications are relevant in NZ. If my memory serves me right though I think it costs abot £40. I may have gone completely off the track on this one, but if i find the site i'll let you know. |

Hi Rebecca
Thanx for the reply, I have decided to get my qualifications assessed it cost me $65 and I did it online (it was very easy). I hope they will get to me in the next few weeks.

Hi Sara,
Sorry, I dont have any words of wisdom for you regarding EOI's as we are just looking at a work visa (EOI's will come later if we like it!) but I am interested to see how you got on speaking to a travel agency in NZ about work if you don't mind. As that's what I do over here and would ideally like to carry on with. Were there any specific qualifications they were looking for?
Thanks
L. |

Hi Lauren,
Well if you are an experianced travel agent (3 years+ exp) you will have absolutely no problem what so ever in getting a job. There is a real shortage of travel agents in NZ. I only contacted 2 agencies and I had job offers in each. Also. (in my case at least) the wages are actually HIGHER than here!!!!! I have COTAC diploma in travel agency skills and I also have a adv. dipl in Hospitality Management.
Anyway good luck, if you want to contact me direct I might beable to put in you touch with a good contact. sara_h33@hotmail.com.
